Tourist Visa Renewal

Complete the DS-160 Form
- You must fill out the Nonimmigrant Visa Application Form (DS-160) online.
- Make sure to print the confirmation page with the barcode, as you will need it during the process.
Pay the Application Fee
- You will need to pay the visa application fee. This payment is generally non-refundable and can be made online or at certain banking institutions.
- Keep the payment receipt, as you will need it to schedule your appointment.
Schedule an Appointment
- Depending on the country where you apply for renewal, you may need to schedule an appointment at the U.S. embassy or consulate.
Gather the Necessary Documents
- Valid Passport: It must be valid for at least six months beyond the period of your intended stay in the U.S.
- Previous Visa: Even if expired, you must bring it if it’s still in your passport. If it’s in a different passport, bring both.
- Recent Photograph: You must comply with the size and background requirements specified by the U.S. Department of State.
- Proof of Ties to Your Home Country: Documents such as bank statements, employment contracts, or property documents that show strong ties to your country and your intent to return.
- Additional Documents: Although not always required, you may be asked for travel itineraries, invitation letters from friends or family in the U.S., or any other documentation that supports your application.
Attend the Interview:
- If you do not qualify for a renewal without an interview, you will need to attend the scheduled interview at the embassy or consulate.
- During the interview, the consular officer will review your documents and ask you questions to determine your eligibility for the visa renewal.
Receiving Your Passport:
- If your visa is approved, your passport will be returned either by courier or for pickup at the embassy or consulate.
Additional Considerations:
- Processing time: It may vary depending on the embassy or consulate and the time.
- Previous visa validity: Make sure to renew your visa before it expires or shortly after its expiration to avoid complications.
